Raven is an amazing nurse; the patients love her, and she has such a professional demeanor.
I was asked if I could pick up a shift to help out with staffing after the hurricane. I accepted and was assigned to a unit. I had never worked on that unit, and therefore, I was not familiar with the layout and so on. My first patient was trying to get discharged. My second patient had hourly potassium riders, NGT, and frequently needed to get up and urinate. My third patient thought he was having a heart attack, so I had to call a rapid response. My fourth patient was on comfort care, and her son came to me after the rapid response ended on the third patient and said that his mother was not breathing. Needless to say, the shift did not go as planned, and things really got hectic. With all of that going on, I could not have gotten through the day had it not been for Raven Mitchell. She made a point to check on me frequently. She offered to help with various nursing tasks. She gave my dying patient Morphine while I was trying to care for my patient with chest pain. She toileted my patient, who needed to urinate often when I was not available. She hung my antibiotics while I was with the son of the patient who had just expired. She helped me find supplies and pull up patients and just provided support throughout the day. Raven is an amazing nurse; the patients love her, and she has such a professional demeanor. It was an honor to work with a truly extraordinary nurse!
