Shortly after I hit the send via HALO, Rawan shows up at my patient’s bedside. She was nothing short of polite and professional.
One day in February I was pulled to the Neuro ICU. One of the patients I received was a sick, elderly woman who had no IV access. Multiple skilled people tried throughout the day to obtain access, but with no success. This patient had missed several antibiotics throughout the day. As I started my shift, the ICU doctors were trying to get someone from the IV Team to come to the ICU to start a line on this patient knowing that the IV Team does not cover the intensive care units. I myself am not too bad at IV starts, but I know my limitations and I knew I desperately needed the ultrasound machine. I wrote a heartfelt note via HALO to the IV Team explaining my dilemma and my plea for help, not only for myself but more importantly for the patient. Shortly after I hit the send via HALO, Rawan shows up at my patient’s bedside. She was nothing short of polite and professional. She put in two IVs (as per ICU Protocol) and drew the blood as I recall. She went out of her way to help and never once complained. I was never lectured about how this was not their covered area. Rawan displays the qualities and attitude of a Henry Ford Nurse that can be seen on billboards all around the city! Again, thank you so much for helping out the team that night. More so the patient!
