There are very few nurses in the world like Rayeanne Childs. Many days, we end up with 40+ people in the waiting room, and I can only think of a single nurse that doesn’t dread having to be out there as waiting room coordinator. That nurse is Rayeann. She once said, “Why would I want to have 4 rooms and only help 4 patients when I could help 40?” Day after day, she listens to patients’ and families’ needs and complaints with a smile on her face. She knows what is going on with every person in that waiting room. She goes above and beyond her role in the waiting room. A PRN nurse that routinely works 4 12-hour shifts a week, never complaining. Her positivity and passion for her job are infectious. She’s the nurse I aspire to be like when I am her age.
