Professor Adkins is recognized for her excellence in teaching, her quality relationships with students and her collaboration relationships with faculty. She coordinates the Objective Standardized Clinical Exams (OSCE's) by scheduling students as well as finding, training, and scheduling standardized patients. Additionally, she has developed scenarios that encompass experiences that present realistic roles for the patient and the student. Professor Adkins has taken on the Advanced Adult Health course and made changes to the course that reflect the most current evidence-based guidelines and incorporated online activities using more visual aids for the sight-impaired learner. She ensures family nurse practitioner students get a strong experience in the primary care of geriatric patients.
