My wife arrived by ambulance at Newton Medical Center's Emergency Room with severe internal bleeding. Emergency Room 3 was supervised by nurse Rebecca "Bexter". My wife soiled the bedding many times. Rebecca, with great compassion and professionalism, cleaned up while keeping me informed of what was occurring and what would happen next. Our gastroenterologist performed a procedure in the emergency room to stop the bleeding. My wife was soon moved to the ICU. My emotions finally got the best of me. Rebecca sat with me and repeatedly expressed optimism that the worst was over and reassured me that my wife would slowly be getting better. I want to reiterate that the compassion that Rebecca showed during this extremely stressful time went far beyond normally expected nursing care. Her superior nursing skills and reassuring caring nature helped me immeasurably through this traumatic and frightening ordeal. I will never forget Rebecca and sincerely appreciate all that she did for both me and my wife.

Bexter was the nurse for my patient who found out in one visit that she was pregnant and having a miscarriage. This patient was very emotional and Bexter really took the time to sit with her and provide support. She did this without judgment or prejudice and I am proud to call her a colleague. I hope for this compassion if I or my family are ever ED patients.
This is Rebecca's 2nd DAISY Award!

Thank you, Rebecca, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
