Rebecca (Becky) A. Fapso, BSN, RN, Infusion Center, is a shining example of how a nurse can work with others, serve as a dynamic role model, develop a very special connection with a patient and make a significant difference in the life of a patient.
Becky’s extraordinary nursing care moved one patient to write a letter praising her. The patient wrote that she was scared to death of having cancer and facing her first chemotherapy treatment. Becky helped calm her fears by laughing, talking and reassuring her. “She told me that is wasn’t as traumatic as I was fearing,” the patient wrote. Each time the patient returned to CTCA at Midwestern, she requested Becky.
On the night of the patient’s final treatment, Becky Fapso and other nurses on the unit presented her with a celebration cake. “I totally cried,” the patient wrote. “These ladies have a tough job and I wanted to let you know how much of an impact they had on me during treatments,” the patient wrote. ‘I was lucky to have met this incredible nurse.”
Becky Fapso truly embodies the mission, vision and values of CTCA at Midwestern by practicing the Mother Standard of Care®, ensuring patients will be cared for with the same warmth, unconditional support and respect we would extend to our own mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers or other loved ones.
