Becky was a tremendous help to me as my grandmother passed away.
Becky is one of the hardest working team members at RCH. She is always willing to pick up extra to help. She has really stepped up over the past year when it came to taking COVID patients. She is caring to her patients and is willing to do the small things that are not really “nursing” as long as it benefits the patients. We recently had an elderly patient who wanted her dog to be here. Becky took the time to find out the necessary process to get the pet visitation approved. She even allowed the dog to stay longer than the allotted hour because it was the best way to keep the patient calm and happy. These are the little things that make such a big difference to our patients.
On a personal note, Becky was a tremendous help to me as my grandmother passed away. My grandmother was being discharged home for her last few days of life, so my mother left for the first time in days to arrange for sitter, ready the house, etc. She had not been gone 30 minutes when I was paged to come to 4th floor. I had never been with someone as they passed away and I was unsure of what I should do. Becky stayed with me the entire time and without her guidance I’m not sure I could have stayed with my grandmother as she took her final breathes.
