She validated all my concerns as a NICU mom once herself, she comforted me, knowing she had the same thoughts and emotions I was experiencing.
My baby unexpectedly had very high jaundice levels at 5 days old and needed emergent phototherapy treatment. I was grateful that Memorial Hospital allowed us to be admitted to the NICU to receive care right away. My first night, I had Becky as my nurse and immediately felt a sense of comfort and familiarity. As a labor and delivery nurse myself, I am deeply familiar with the impact that skilled and empathetic nursing care has on my patient and their families. I can wholeheartedly say that Becky went above and beyond to provide that care. She took the time to explain every procedure in a way that reassured me while also respecting my professional knowledge. She validated all my concerns as a NICU mom once herself, she comforted me, knowing she had the same thoughts and emotions I was experiencing. Initially, I had planned on staying with my baby 24/7, unable to imagine leaving, but Becky gave me the comfort and confidence to step away when needed, knowing without a doubt that my baby was in perfect hands. I remember she said, “We cannot possibly love her the exact way you do, but we love our babies (here in the NICU) just a little less than you”. I knew from that moment my little girl was in perfect hands. I cannot thank her enough for the care and support she provided during one of the hardest moments of my life.
