Our unit had a very confused patient who had no family or friends present during a multiple day stay to our floor. This patient would often cry out in discomfort or loneliness. One day we heard this patient singing off and on and Rebecca and I entered the patient's room and discovered she enjoyed Whitney Houston's music. Rebecca instantly went and got her own personal cell phone and put on Whitney Houston soundtracks for the patient to listen to, sing along with, and enjoy for hours. She even spent a few minutes dancing and singing along with the patient to offer her some moments of comfort and joy. Rebecca displayed exceptional care as a nurse, especially considering this was not even her patient. She left her phone for hours with music on for this patient to keep her happy and content. Rebecca truly displays the values we represent here at BayCare.
