Rebecca was nominated by a coworker and a patient. While driving one day, Rebecca saw a crowd of people surrounding a man covered in blood. She quickly pulled over to assess the situation and offer her knowledge and expertise. She used quick thinking and was able to tie a tourniquet on both of his profusely bleeding legs. While waiting for paramedics she held his hand and continued to talk to him to keep him awake and alert. He was taken by EMS and she had hoped he would be ok. As fate would have it, a few days later a coworker of Rebecca's was caring for this patient. The doctors and staff were amazed he had survived. The patient called Rebecca his "guardian angel" and wanted her to be recognized for her amazing efforts. Her compassion, kindness, courage to stop, and quick thinking helped him to be where he is today, happy to be alive.
In a world of so much fear Becky was able to put aside all caution and help a total stranger. Not everyone would be so selfless. She showed extraordinary nursing care to a total stranger outside of her comfort zone of the hospital and had no fear of stopping to help someone in need.
