I went to the ER at just under 10 weeks pregnant, with my first viable pregnancy (after years of believing I could not carry and a ruptured ectopic 8 years ago). I was experiencing vaginal bleeding and was highly emotional and distraught at the idea that I may be experiencing a miscarriage. Rebecca recognized my emotions without being dismissive or presenting a "false smile". Instead, she shared her own experiences with me, going above and beyond to help me feel understood and seen as a woman going through a difficult time. She made sure I understood and was comfortable with the process of what would happen during this visit. Throughout my stay in the Emergency room she checked in multiple times, helping to talk me through the test results I had seen via MyChart, while also ensuring I waited to hear from a doctor before jumping to conclusions and stressing my emotions unnecessarily (any more than they already were anyway). She made sure I was physically comfortable, but more importantly, she made sure I was emotionally supported while I waited in an ER, alone, fearing the worst. I cannot thank her enough for how wonderful she was. When I was discharged, she made sure I was comfortable with the terminology on my discharge paperwork and helped give me a sense of peace going forward, regardless of how things play out over the next few weeks. I haven't had such a compassionate and understanding nurse before, and her demeanor, bedside manner, and overall personality were a godsend during what could have been a much more difficult time. I can't thank her enough, and I appriciate everything she did for me earlier today.
