There was an elderly patient whose spouse was coming and going from the hospital. This patient's spouse was needing a ride, which the patient set up. When it was time for the ride to come, it was raining outside and Rebecca Frederick was worried that even though the ride was set up by the patient, the spouse may be overwhelmed about getting downstairs and into the rideshare. This Nurse went downstairs to find the patient's spouse to ensure that they safely got into the rideshare and to the hospital. Then Rebecca reported back to the patient that the spouse safely made it to the ride. It was not Rebecca's responsibility to walk down to make sure this patient's spouse got into the rideshare, but felt empathy for them and wanted to ensure that they were safe. Peace of mind is everything, and Rebecca provided that to the patient and showed the spouse that UMC is full of people who care.
