Her overall care and compassion made all the difference.
I recently gave birth to my first baby, and I feel I had the best possible care that I could've received from a labor and delivery nurse. My nurse was Becca, and she truly exceeded my expectations.
Being a first-time mom and going in for an induction, to say I was nervous and anxious was an understatement. However, when I met Becca, I felt more at ease. She had a calm demeanor and was very thorough when explaining the process of my induction to my husband and me. She even took the time to go through my birth plan with me, line by line. She ensured that my husband and I understood the care my baby and I would receive that best aligned with my labor and birth preferences.
When my husband and I had questions, they were answered with care and detail. We truly felt heard and listened to. Any uneasiness that I felt faded, and I felt confident that I was in great care with Becca.
As my labor progressed and I got more uncomfortable, she went above and beyond with her responsiveness and individualization of care. Becca was encouraging, positive, and made helpful suggestions to progress my labor, all while trying to make me as comfortable as possible. When my doula arrived, she was accommodating and was sure to give her the details on my labor progression. They cooperated wonderfully with my care, especially when I was going through my most intense and painful moments.
Earlier in the evening, Becca had joked that she was greedy and liked birthdays to be on her shift. I laughed and knocked on wood, hoping that she would bring me good luck. Sure enough, I was holding my beautiful and healthy baby girl just before Becca's shift was ending.
My gratitude for Becca is immense, and I'm fortunate she was able to be my nurse through my labor and delivery. Her overall care and compassion made all the difference. She brings such value to an already amazing team at Baptist Clay Labor and Delivery.

Miss Becca (as we affectionately called her) was an absolute angel. When she came into the room, I was anxious. My first time giving birth 7 years ago, I had a lot of unexpected trauma, so this second time giving birth, I didn’t know what to expect.
By the time she was my nurse, I had given birth and had surgery to get my tubes removed, so I was in a lot of pain, as well as emotionally drained, and on edge. As soon as she came in, she was so warm and offered words of comfort and encouragement. I opened up about my previous trauma, and she handled me with so much care.
Becca let me sit through every test she did for my baby and included me. She catered to my very curious nature by explaining every test in detail so I knew exactly why she was running the test and how every test worked. I got to learn a lot and be part of my daughter’s care. This made a huge difference in my experience.
I was very anxious going into this labor and delivery due to my previous experience, and although the rest of the staff was absolutely lovely, Becca really stood out with her care, making sure that my experience this time was special rather than traumatic.
I’m beyond grateful that my daughter and I were under her care. I felt not only that we were safe, but also very nurtured. She is in the right place, and the labor and delivery unit is lucky to have her!
