Rebecca Foster is a known leader in Angleton. She works hard to provide patient care and steps up as a leader daily. Her teamwork can be seen daily throughout the hospital. One example was when I came into work with a pulled-back muscle. My patient required a CT scan of the head, which would require moving the patient to a CT table. Rebecca knew this would be very difficult for me with an injured back. She volunteered as the charge nurse to take the patient for me.

Also, she is very compassionate. This can be seen through her leadership in the Nursing Honor Guard, which she founded and grew to what it is today. In her time off, she volunteers for this Honor Guard to honor nurses who have passed on. She shows up at their funeral and gives very emotional honors to our fallen colleague. One such example was a nurse who came from our hospital and was on his deathbed. While in the hospital, the Nursing Honor Guard performed the ceremony honoring his service. The patient was then escorted home on hospice in an ambulance honor route. Such honor, in my opinion, would not have been possible without the hard work Rebecca put into establishing the Honor Guard of Brazoria County. Rebecca Foster magnifies her nursing role. There is no such thing as “Down Time” if she has a moment, she is checking on patients as the charge nurse, providing care that often gets overlooked, bathing, applying lotion, and talking with the patients as she works. She critically thinks and counsels others through their care. She took on an obnoxiously slow preceptee and endured it with patience. She also helps others with their signoffs, patient turns, and peri care. She runs towards the call light or phone instead of away. Very helpful to us all.
