Rebecca deserves the DAISY Award for having a golden heart. Golden, compassionate, selfless there are many attributes that could be used to describe Rebecca's heart. This month, it shined through as she assisted a terminally-ill patient say goodbye to his two young daughters.
After battling his illness for quite some time, the patient was faced with the decision to end treatment. The bigger challenge, telling his two daughters he won't be with them later in life. Looking to Rebecca for support, she suggested sending the girls to a Build-a-Bear workshop. There, each could select a bear and have "I love you" - recorded by the patient - added, so anytime they wanted to hear their father's voice, they could. Rebecca generously sponsored their trip to Build-a-Bear.
She went above and beyond her call of duty to make a difference in her patient's final days. Her nursing care is not confined at the bedside; it goes deep down to the core.
