Rebecca was recognized by a co-worker for the strength of character she showed during a family's difficult time. After the family faced the devastating loss of their newborn, Rebecca realized the mom, too heartbroken over the loss, hadn't had the words to tell the baby's older sibling what happened. The sibling, who is a young child, came to visit the NICU and began telling the baby all the things they would do together. Without missing a beat, Rebecca offered to talk to the sibling. Gratefully, the mom agreed. With kindness and compassion, Rebecca had a sweet conversation with the young child, explaining in the most gentle way that the baby was in heaven with their grandpa. Not hesitating to do the right thing in a difficult situation is the kind of nurse every patient deserves.
