I clearly remember as I was pushing how scared I was, and Becca looked into my eyes and told me that I was going to be okay and that she is here for me.
I just had my first child at Augusta Health. I was asked before I left if there were any nurses that stood out to me and what they did well. Immediately I started crying because I simply have no words for the nurse, I am about to tell you about. This nurse left me speechless. This might be hard for me to sum up all she did for me in this, but I will do my best because I don't think I could be okay with myself if I didn't share how this nurse took care of me.
I was terrified of what nurse I was going to get. I had a lot of fears going into this, and yes that was one of them, but as soon as she stepped into the room, I felt safe. I feel like it’s important for patients to feel safe and cared for as soon as the nurse steps in the door. It’s all about the first impressions for me. And she killed it! There were a lot of nurses I saw throughout my stay, but none of them compared to Becca. I didn't know what to truly expect whatsoever but the entire time Becca was working tirelessly for me. I could tell she TRULY cared for me without knowing me at all. That is something that is so special to me.
I can tell you one thing that Becca did that changed everything for me. My 2 epidurals ended up failing and I had to deliver naturally. Which was the scariest thing for me. I truly thought I was going to die. This wasn’t what I expected at all. I had so much fear in me. Becca stepped up like no other. She was by my side the entire time, doing everything she should and MORE. I clearly remember as I was pushing how scared I was, and she looked into my eyes and told me that I was going to be okay and that she is here for me. At that moment, I had hope again that I could keep pushing when I wanted to give up.
Because of her, I delivered my beautiful baby girl feeling safe in her care. Her words of encouragement, she listened to every word I said and went above and beyond for me. Becca even stayed after her 12-hour shift to make sure I was okay and to tell me bye after the shift change and didn't just head out when it was time to clock out.
I could give many examples throughout my time with her, but I want to brag on Augusta Health for hiring such an amazing nurse whom I will NEVER forget for the rest of my life. Becca made a HUGE impression on me, and every time I think about how much she did for me on the night of my daughter’s birth, I will forever get chills and start crying because of how she does her job. ALL nurses should be looking up to her and doing whatever she is doing because she made a lifelong impression on me. Becca, I know you kept saying I was brave and a rock star, but truly you are the brave rock star that I will never forget, From the bottom of my heart, thank you.
