I came to Kaiser Oakland when my OBGYN in Kaiser Pinole informed me that I was about to miscarry. I couldn't accept it, and it was a difficult decision for me to terminate my pregnancy too soon. Becca was the first nurse who checked me in before I saw the doctors. She held my hand when the doctors had to check my birth canal a couple of times. She was also my nurse the following morning when I lost my 19-week-old baby.
I felt powerless at that time, yet she respected my decisions and ensured they were honored. She even provided clothing for my baby before being transported to my chosen mortuary. She also gave me a memory box to keep tangible items that will remind me of my baby. I was having a very difficult time, yet Becca understood the weight of what I was going through. She was there to provide emotional support and showed compassion to me. I felt seen and not just another patient. I'm forever grateful to Becca for going out of her way to provide excellent care to me.
