Becky provided compassionate care for the patient and the family. The direction of care changed from aggressive to comfort care. As Becky titrated the cardiac meds down, she encouraged the family and friends to be at the bedside. We sang hymns and prayed while Becky worked discreetly to do her work. She made family partners in his care. She worked closely with palliative care and hospice. The connection she had with the family was one that will have a lifelong impact.
