Rebecca Stone, WHNP, FNP, BSN, RN, EFM

Rebecca Stone is truly an exceptional human being. She has been our OB/GYN nurse for several years, and I have seen her go above and beyond in so many ways. Much of what she does is not visible from the outside, but it impacts all of us for the better. She is a superb clinician.

She answers patient messages with care and thoughtfulness, taking the time to open the chart, review previous clinical notes, and address patients' concerns to the best of her ability. She does this so well that many times I can simply write back to the patient, "I agree with the advice given by Rebecca!" When she isn't here, my in-basket takes much longer to manage. Other OB/GYNs who have had the privilege of having Rebecca answer their patient messages have also commented on how thorough her responses are. During one meeting, one of them even asked, "Can we please duplicate Rebecca?"

Rebecca has a true can-do attitude. She is always willing to find a way to make things work. At the Burke office, we perform more office procedures than most OB/GYN offices because of our high volume of office hysteroscopies and trigger point injections. This requires significant planning and coordination to ensure instruments are processed and returned in time for upcoming cases. Whenever the schedule opens, Rebecca reviews it carefully and contacts PSMD to block the one-hour appointments needed for hysteroscopies. I especially appreciate that she never waits to be asked—she takes the initiative and simply gets things done.

Rebecca also calls every hysteroscopy patient in advance to review how to prepare for the procedure. I believe a large part of our office's success is due to how well our patients are prepared before they arrive. As a result, the Burke office performs more office hysteroscopies at our center than all of the other centers combined. Many staff members from other locations have come to Burke to learn how we perform these office procedures.

Rebecca's patience, kindness, and calm disposition have been invaluable. Even on our busiest days or when we are short-staffed, I cannot recall Rebecca complaining. Her attitude helps set the tone for the entire office, and I believe our patients recognize that as well. Many have commented on how helpful she was in calming their nerves before procedures. Whenever I see that Rebecca is working, I know the day is going to be okay.

I cannot think of a nurse more deserving of this recognition than Rebecca. She is truly a gem, and we are incredibly grateful to have her on our team. I would love for her to receive this outward recognition for all of the countless things she does behind the scenes for both our patients and our staff.
