I nominate Becky Vernon in the ACU. I am writing in praise and affection for Becky Vernon. The consistency of her care and concern has been a lifeline for us during my spouse’s nineteen-day stay in the Advanced Care Unit. Through the many tense moments of my spouse's recovery, Becky remained rock-solid and incredibly calm under pressure. Nothing fazes her. Her calm reassurance filled the room, steadying me and my wife. She patiently explained the many medications and procedures she performed—always positive, never impatient or hurried. It was obvious, though nonetheless amazing, to witness her quintessence of courage, warmth, and light—Journeying through her shifts with patients and family members in what is often the most terrifying, the darkest, the most vulnerable time of their lives. This is truly her calling; every shift here is Becky Vernon’s Finest Hour.
