Rebecca almost cried when I took my first steps again and when it was time to discharge me. I went back to the hospital two times to show her how strong I’ve become since September.
I was in a severe car accident in September of 2024. I was life lined to a hospital in Indy. While I had my stay in Indy I was mistreated by nurses, left in my own bath rooming issues, and never had a good smiling face of a nurse. When I got transferred to Franciscan in Lafayette, I had one main AM nurse, Rebecca.
Rebecca was never rude to me. Every day, she would come in and make sure I would eat and I was taken care of, and she was never harsh with her words. I was always scared of PT and OT when the time came around, and Rebecca would stand by my side in my room when they came to get me. She would also always check up on me while I was in PT and OT to make sure I was okay. Rebecca never had a frown on her face when she had to take care of me. I felt like on days when I never felt more alone, Rebecca was always by my side.
I am a 19-year-old young adult who never had anything go wrong with me my entire life, so this was new and scary. Rebecca isn’t just a nurse to be a nurse. She’s a nurse because she has a heart for people who need help. I would choose Rebecca again in every lifetime if I had to go back to the hospital.
