When I arrived at the hospital at 38 weeks and 6 days, I was experiencing pre-eclampsia symptoms that were just under the metric to induce. I was also in an active, rapid labor that was causing me to be unable to speak between contractions and vomiting. The nurses at MemorialCare made the right call and admitted me to the labor and delivery area. That's when I met Rebekah. She wheeled me out of triage while introducing herself to my husband and me, her cheerful, positive attitude completely calming me down. She took me to the room she told me was one of her favorites and explained why. This really put me at ease, and her unrelenting positivity would carry me for the next five hours. Once I had the epidural in, we bonded over our love for movies and the Oscar season - this small talk took my mind completely off of the extreme pain I was in and the life-threatening moments for my baby I would ultimately experience. Rebekah never made me feel like a patient in a hospital.
