Upon being hired as a registry nurse I expected I would learn many responsibilities as this was my first correctional job. One of the first thoughts I had was about how impressive Nurse Deel is to be the only nurse handling all of the business side of medical as well as the patient care. It would be hard to list all the things Nurse Deel does here as the head nurse and nursing authority, and I would still not cover them all. On top of day-to-day care, Nurse Deel handles the arrangement of outside appointments, the groundwork for initiating chronic care, along with many other processes that help the probationers start the medical journey to becoming well. She is available at all hours and comes back in the middle of the night when something has happened. In the year and a half that I have been here, I have heard from our coworkers nothing but great stories about Nurse Deel as well as picked up on the overall trust and confidence this facility has in her. The one nurse that always helps them with any question they have. It has been a privilege learning under Nurse Deel and helping her though I know without me she would juggle everything just fine on her own.
