January 2019 Honoree
reem atshan, RN
I was working with Reem during my preceptorship, and we recently had a patient who received a terminal diagnosis at a younger age. This patient, along with the family, was very sad and Reem overhead how the patient wanted to hear his friend play the guitar one last time. Reem went and called the friend who was going to be visiting later that day and told him to bring his guitar and play for him. The friend did indeed come with the guitar and not only the patient and family enjoyed this gesture, but so did his roommate and other people on the floor as well. This is just one of the many compassionate moments I have witnessed from Reem while working with her.
Thank you, Reem, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
