I have worked with Regan Robertson for years and she has always been a cornerstone of what we call our NICU “family”. She is a gifted bedside nurse with a knack for connecting with families, has recently become a PICC nurse, and is also trained in neonatal transports. But what sets Regan apart are the things she does beyond the bedside care.
Regan has been instrumental in our NICU’s participation in the March of Dimes walks for many years. She is one of the main “NICU photographers” that arranges holiday photo shoots and makes holiday cards that are a huge patient satisfier for their families. She has been known to decorate babies bedsides to cheer up NICU families that have had a particularly hard time as well as NICU name tags or birthday cards. She is welcoming and calming to new staff and is a strong clinical resource as well.
Here recently the hospital has struggled to maintain housekeeping staff and there are numerous times that housekeeping cannot get to the NICU to do any of their usual cleaning. Regan has taken it upon herself that when she is here to mop the floors and take out the trash to make sure the unit is clean and presentable for our families.
This is in addition to her duties as a bedside nurse. The unit and Hillcrest are lucky to have such a dedicated nurse and it is an honor to work alongside her.
