A patient was admitted to the 6th floor for COPD. The patient also had a vast range of psychological conditions which made him a bit anxious and apprehensive about many things that he needed to have done while being hospitalized. The patient was on the 6th floor for quite some time, and many of the staff formed a good rapport with him. However, Regan not only formed a good rapport with this patient, but a great bond as well. Every day she would go into his room and talk with him about everyday things and make him feel more at ease about being in the hospital. The patient was being transferred to another facility just a few days before his 70th birthday. When Regan realized this, she bought him a birthday cake and brought it into work the day that he was being transferred. Regan gathered all of the staff working that day and they went into his room with the birthday cake and sang "Happy Birthday" to him. Not only did she get him a birthday cake, but she also bought him new clothes...a sweatshirt, a t-shirt, sweatpants and a new hat! He was so overjoyed by all of this that it brought him to tears.

Regan went above and beyond her expected duties that day, and she does this on a regular basis for many patients. She is a strong patient advocate, team player and a great asset to the TJUH organization.
