Regina is the perfect example of what a nurse should be; full of compassion, warmth and most of all Human kindness. I have witnessed Regina exemplify the standards and compassion that Dignity Health stands for on multiple occasions. No matter what her task load looks like, her response is always welcoming and helpful. She anticipates needs and offers her help before being asked. She speaks to the patients and families on a personal level so it is no surprise that we have gotten compliments about her. During one nightshift that was exceptionally busy, Regina volunteered to help discharge another nurse's patient. The patient had Dementia and kept trying to walk away on her own and had a hard time cooperating. Regina asked her a couple questions and found out that the patient used to sing, so she began singing to her and the patient joined in. While singing, she was able to calm the patient down and get her vitals as well as discharge the patient safely and calmly. Small things like this usually go unnoticed but I believe that they make a huge difference, especially in a busy department. I am currently pursuing nursing as a profession and can honestly say Regina is the kind of nurse I aspire to be like.
