I have diabetes and went through a period when I was quite upset with myself when my numbers wouldn't come down. I was crying and down on myself. Regina Hawkins sincerely spoke with me and calmed me. Her uplifting words made such a difference for me. She truly cares about her patients. When she's taking your vitals, and asking questions, you're not just a number in the day; you are a person with medical issues who she truly cares about. Regina always smiles and asks how I'm doing. She follows up. Her genuine concern warms my heart. It is so comforting to have a nurse who truly cares and wants to help. Not only does she help me physically: she impacts my mental attitude. What a blessing. An angel of mercy!
I also take my Mom to Dr. S. Regina has always been very patient and caring to her as well. Mom's had a stroke and has difficulty finding words. Regina patiently and caringly listens to my Mom. My Mom gets so frustrated with herself and Regina calms her and gives her full eye contact until the words flow. She is caring, professional, efficient, kind, all things a nurse should be and more. Her sweet disposition makes all the difference especially when you feel bad. I have never seen such a connection between a nurse and a doctor before. Regina knows instinctively what Dr. S will ask of her and has already planned before she enters the room.
I wish I could write more elegantly. I am not doing her justice. Regina is simply the best! She defines what an excellent nurse is! She is compassion!
