October 2019 Honoree
regina oconnor 2019, BSN, RN
Regina took time out of her busy day to sit with a hospice patient's family member. This patient was not her patient assignment, but Regina still sat with her mom to make her feel better about an impossible situation. She was genuine, caring, and showed compassion. She took time out of her busy day to help this family member grieve. She advocated for a "comfort cart" to be brought to the patient's bedside so that family members had some drinks and light snacks while they were at the bedside of the dying patient. This allowed the family to remain with the patient and not have to leave to get something to drink or eat because they wanted to spend as much time with their loved one. It was comforting to the family to know that the hospital and staff were thinking of them and supporting them during this very devastating time. We should all strive to be as kind as Regina. She's a fantastic nurse!
Thank you, Regina, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
