The definition of professionalism in nursing: providing top-quality care to patients, while also upholding the values of accountability, respect, and integrity. This is all I think of when I think of my mother's ICU nurse Renan. This young man showed compassion, care, and passion for his job. You can tell when someone loves their work as it shows and shines through. Renan is young but wise and has amazing bedside manners, attentiveness to patients and family, provides the best care and keeps you informed through the process. He made every effort to make her comfortable and was attentive to the needs of the family, from offering to pray with the family to sharing in the concern for her. I am tremendously grateful to this young man for all he did for my family. There are not a lot of people who take the time and care he did. I even had to take a moment to stop and tell him that he is truly the example and what I imagine when I think of a Nurse. He went above and beyond, and I, once again am so grateful to him for making my family comfortable during this most difficult time. He makes the ICU unit shine and is an asset to the hospital. All I can say is THANK you , and the love and care he offered will always be with me and my family.
