We had a 4-month-old baby on our floor admitted with FTT who recently had a g-tube placed. The two-year-old sibling came up to visit and was fascinated by the tube. She kept wanting to touch it and see it. Her parents told her no because they were afraid she might accidentally hurt her baby brother. Seeing the parents' anxiety and frustration at being told no, Rene devised a plan. She asked the parents and the sibling if she could operate on the sibling's bear and give him a g-tube. Rene alleviated the parents' anxiety by satisfying the sibling's curiosity. Her actions exemplified the meaning of caring for the whole family.
