I would like to nominate Rene from the GI Suite for the DAISY Award. He provided extraordinary care and support during my mother’s hospitalization, particularly throughout her two ERCP procedures. From the very beginning, Rene showed a level of compassion and attentiveness that went far beyond expectations. He not only cared for my mother with skill and professionalism, but he also cared for me as a family member who was anxious and worried. Rene kept me updated every step of the way, even taking the time to send reassuring messages before the procedure to confirm details and ease my mind. This thoughtful communication greatly reduced my anxiety and allowed me to feel confident that my mother was in excellent hands. During both hospital visits, Rene consistently demonstrated patience, empathy, and a calm presence that made a challenging time much more manageable. He treated my mother with dignity and respect, while also ensuring that I felt informed, supported, and included in her care. His ability to balance clinical expertise with emotional support exemplifies the very best of nursing practice. Rene is truly an asset to Mount Sinai Medical Center. His compassion, dedication, and advocacy for patients and their families reflect the highest standards of the nursing profession.
