We had a patient who was on our unit from falling down the stairs and is now a quadriplegic. He had been with his girlfriend for 17 years and was recently diagnosed with cancer. They decided they wanted to get married and they could only do it in the hospital because they did not know if he would get to go home. Renee, along with the chaplain helped to plan their wedding. She made cupcakes for the wedding and brought in decorations for his room. She also made sure that there were people at the wedding. It was a wonderful and beautiful ceremony. I admire her for taking the time to go the extra step to fulfill this patient's request.
