She never presents herself as a “know-it-all,” but instead asks thoughtful questions and encourages open discussion, reminding all of us that learning is a continuous process no matter how experienced we are.
This nurse does not have a problem speaking up about safety. She’s involved with HAPI rounds. She assists with Audits. She networks with pharmaceutical companies to provide education for inpatient and outpatient staff. She serves as an educator for our service line!

I would like to nominate my coworker for the Nurse Educator DAISY Award. She consistently goes above and beyond to ensure that all staff members are well-informed and confident in their practice. She often arrives early or stays late so that both shifts have the opportunity to receive education on new topics, demonstrating her deep commitment to our team’s growth and patient care. What makes her especially impactful is her humility and dedication to lifelong learning. She never presents herself as a “know-it-all,” but instead asks thoughtful questions and encourages open discussion, reminding all of us that learning is a continuous process no matter how experienced we are. She chooses to keep her “office” on the unit floor, making herself readily available and accessible to the staff she supports. By staying close to the team, she fosters a supportive, approachable environment where education feels natural and ongoing rather than formal or distant. Her passion for teaching, her presence on the unit, and her genuine care for both staff and patients make her truly deserving of this recognition.

This nurse consistently exemplifies the true spirit of nursing excellence and compassion. One moment that stands out was seeing her on her way to her office, not for a break but to bring a patient a fresh glass of sweet tea, simply because that small act would bring them comfort. This is who she is every day: a nurse who listens, who notices, and who goes above and beyond to meet not only the clinical needs of her patients, but their personal wishes as well. Her dedication reflects a deep commitment to patient-centered care, and her kindness leaves a lasting impact on everyone she encounters. In any situation, she is exactly the kind of nurse you would hope to have by your side.

She is an amazing educator. She is a strong advocate for nurses. She takes the time to find out what our needs are and how to best meet them. She makes herself available when needed. Since she worked in the area she teaches, she understands the unique challenges that we face. She makes our job a bit easier.
