During my stay in ICU, my recovery was challenging and took longer than originally anticipated. There were many nurses who cared for me, but one stood out as a true patient champion. Renee exemplifies strength, grace, commitment, and compassion. When fluid needed to be drained from my lungs, Renee sat with me and held my hand. Whenever my doctors were in the room to update me on my condition or explain an upcoming procedure, Renee was by my side to comfort me. Renee made herself available to answer any and all of my questions while giving me the confidence that I would pull through my procedures.

One day my sister came to visit and noticed that I was slouching over in the hospital chair. She tried to convince the assigned nurse that there was a problem. By the time the nurse responded, I was worse. Then my heart stopped. My sister immediately ran down the hall to find Renee. Renee flew into the room and started CPR which saved my life. I will forever be grateful to Renee. I feel blessed to have been under her watchful care.
