Renee collaborated with other education representatives across Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare to design, develop, and implement a system-wide learning needs assessment.
Renee has made a profound impact not only on new nurses, but additionally with experienced nurses, shaping and enhancing clinical practice across all levels of the profession. She has worked to additionally facilitate enculturation of international nurses into practice at Germantown in her assigned departments. Her commitment to nursing education exemplifies the Association of Nursing Professional Development (ANPD) standards, making her a great leader in advancing professional practice and patient outcomes through education.
Renee continually demonstrates excellence in facilitating learning. She employs a wide range of teaching methodologies to meet the needs of both novice and experienced nurses, ensuring the integration of adult learning principles. This aligns with the ANPD Standards of Education, Planning, and Implementation. Whether fostering a supportive learning environment, leveraging evidence-based practice in educational sessions, or practicing inquiry by questioning ‘the way we’ve always done it’ for example, in the small volume infusion project in which she collaborated with members of the Med Safety Team, Renee continues to shine as an NPD practitioner. Renee provides an education that is learner-centered and outcomes-driven during nurse residency seminars and annual competency fairs, as well as when facilitating learning activities to support the development of new roles, such as that of a Patient Care Technician. Renee embraces various modalities of education delivery, including creative games using technology. This aligns with the ANPD Standard of Quality of Nursing Professional Development Practice.
Renee’s commitment to collaboration and interdisciplinary education enhances the quality of learning experiences. This is demonstrated both in the hospital and in the community, where she participated with other nursing educators and the Germantown Fire Department in providing CPR to an area high school. By partnering with corporate and other facility education teams to support nursing and community education, Renee reflects the ANPD responsibility of Partnership, which emphasizes the importance of building strong, cohesive healthcare teams through education.
Additionally, Renee collaborated with other education representatives across Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare to design, develop, and implement a system-wide learning needs assessment. Through her work with this team, she showed her alignment with the ANPD standards of Assessment of Practice Gaps, Identification of Learning Needs, Planning, Implementation, and Evaluation.
This year, Renee has partnered with nursing leadership to launch the first PACE Model unit in Germantown. She embraced change management and demonstrated agility in the rapid onboarding of new LPN and PCT associates. This work aligns with the ANPD standards of Education, Planning, and Implementation.
As the Germantown RN Residency Facilitator, over the last few years, Renee has overseen and coordinated the transition to practice for more than a hundred newly graduated registered nurses. In this role, she communicates, educates, coordinates, collaborates, encourages, and serves as a mentor. For example, this year, she helped support three RN Residents in the refinement of their Residency project, and she facilitated the application that resulted in their poster presentation at the national Vizient conference. Of note, they won third place! Renee played a significant role in revising the Evidence-Based Practice workbook for the RN Residents. This past year, she also assisted in the compilation of exemplars and in the collaborative writing of the application for the RN Residency Program. As a result of her contribution, the MLH RN Residency Program was awarded the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Accreditation with Distinction.
We thank Renee for her role in shaping our nursing workforce and her commitment to excellence.
