We had a planned induction for my second daughter's birth and figured it would go smoothly as our first daughter's delivery did. While labor and delivery went great, the nurses noticed a small gurgling sound at times when my daughter would breathe. A nurse practitioner saw my daughter and said that it was normal and nothing more needed to be done. Happy with this news, I proceeded to enjoy my time holding our daughter after being transferred to the postpartum wing. Soon after shift change, my nurse Renee came in and asked if she could do some additional tests on my daughter. I gladly let her evaluate our daughter and she so calmly told me that she would like to take her for further testing. Soon after she left she returned to let us know that my daughter needed to go to the NICU. She quickly took my husband to be with her there in the NICU and for the rest of the night she took care of my every need. We later found out that our daughter had an unknown infection and spiked a fever quickly. All of the neonatologists and NICU nurses explained that if it were not for Renee's quick action, they feared our daughter would not have made it through that first night or treatment would have been severely delayed.

I'm so happy to say that after a lengthy stay in NICU, our daughter is now safe at home and recovering, but if it were not for Renee, I don't think this would be the outcome. I owe her every bit of thanks that I possibly have. She truly saved our daughter's life, and I will never forget her kindness and grace as she took such good care of us.
