Following an endoscopic procedure for an esophageal impaction, I was taken to my room to recover. All of the staff I encountered are to be commended for the level of care I received. I would particularly like to recognize the nurse primarily responsible for my recovery care.
She was skilled, professional and empathetic and exceeded any reasonable expectation in assuring my comfort. She even went so far as to scour the hospital for a phone charger so that I could maintain contact with family and friends.
I had the opportunity to observe this nurse in an interaction with another patient who was more demanding and perhaps a bit less respectful. She was every bit as responsive, gracious and empathetic to this patient who had more serious problems.
As a manager of professionals who deal with often distressed customers, I know that clients can be quick to complain but are often less motivated to express their happiness. With this in mind, I send this note to commend this nurse for her professionalism and care.
