Reuben is an excellent nurse. He is quiet and has a calming nature, but has the respect of his fellow nurses and knows just how to comfort patients. He goes above and beyond the call of duty and always with a HUGE smile on his face! He was prompt and never gave me any indication that I was not his only patient. He made me feel like I was his first and only priority each and every time, all the while with a smile on his face. He was always on time with my meds and came into my room promptly any time I called. I know he had other patients and was very busy, but he never let it show. He continuously made time to have a little conversation with me any time he was in my room. This was such a comfort to me, especially during a scary hospital admission. No matter how mundane the task he never seemed to mind. He would do even the simplest things, such as: bringing me a soda or a sherbet, always with a smile on his face and genuine concern in his voice and questions.
I truly believe he deserves this award because as someone with a terminal illness; plus being in quarantine due to C-diff, I know for a fact that nurses like him with his compassionate bedside manner are few and far between.
He never treated me indifferently once I was diagnosed with C-diff. He suited up EVERY TIME for whatever I asked for and charged in my room like I was his family member lying there in that bed. He listened to me cry and listened to me laugh and I truly am blessed to have had God put him in my path just when I needed someone most. I hope he knows what an impact he makes on the lives of the lonely and "condemned". He was there just when I needed a friend the most.
