Recently we had a patient on our unit who was placed on comfort care. The patient wasn't doing well and her daughter was supposed to be getting married in the soon future. The daughter wanted her mom to make it to the wedding so she arranged to be married in the hospital chapel so her mother could be present. The patient required continuous respiratory and telemetry monitoring so she could not go down to the chapel without nurse supervision. The patient's nurse was really busy and didn't have time to take the patient down but Rey heard about the story and made time in his day to take the patient to the chapel. Rey assisted the patient in getting ready and took her down in a wheelchair to watch her daughter get married. Rey stayed the entire time of the ceremony to watch the patient. This was such a unique situation and so special. It touched so many of us working that day and meant the world to both the patient and her daughter.
