My friend gave birth to a beautiful baby girl at the Homerton Maternity Unit. I had the honour of being her birthing partner. My friend had to be induced, and her labour was quite high risk; she had reduced movement. This was her 8th child, age was against her, and the baby was measuring big. To say I was scared was an understatement. I’d only ever been present at my own two births before.

As soon as I met the wonderful midwife allocated to us all my worry disappeared. Rhiannon was a breath of fresh air. She was so kind and calming. Every procedure and option was explained thoroughly. The compassion and care Rhiannon provided were exceptional. It felt like my best friend, someone who I love and care for very much, was safe and in the best possible hands. I honestly cannot fault a single thing.

I know Homerton Hospital delivers thousands of babies a year, but the care Rhiannon provided felt so personal to us. Thank you all so much for the incredible service the maternity department at Homerton provides. Every member of staff we encountered was wonderful. The trainee midwife who was also present was an absolute sweetheart, and with the amazing training you are providing, I’m sure she will be a wonderful midwife.

 Most of all, I just wanted to highlight the amazing Rhiannon to you. She was perfect, and I thank her from the bottom of my heart for everything she did that night. I’m pleased to say that the baby and mum are doing well.
