I was in today for the second knee surgery of 2024. I have had a large number of other medical procedures. She was in the room with a student. She explained every step in my care to myself as well as the student. She knew I was nervous and, despite technical issues with computers, put me at ease. When it came time for the IV, as a notoriously difficult stick, I braced for the worst. I have had times when multiple professionals get called in. Flashlight and veinoscopes are used and still sticks are hard. When Rhonda went on, she explained that my vein rolled, yet with her calmness and control, she was able to hit the spot with a few seconds of trying. This may not sound like much, but to a patient who has had staff go for every vein. And still fail, this is amazing. Later, as a numbing solution was placed in my leg, Rhonda displayed absolute professionalism despite the med student stepping away due to her feeling faint. Rhonda maintained composure and kept me calm and relaxed while simultaneously addressing other issues. Rhonda is a gem! Please honor her with this award, as I am beyond hopeful if I ever have another procedure, she will be my nurse.
