Rhonda has a true ministry. She is truly the hands and feet of Jesus. My dad was in Mercy Neuro ICU from Oklahoma, having had several caretakers. None more compassionate than Rhonda. She is smart, thorough, strong and sweet. She made such an impression on not only my dad but my entire family.
He was hospitalized for the next 54 days (across 4 different hospitals) until the disease he was battling overcame him, but no other caregiver lived up to Rhonda. We called her Nurse Rhonda since we share a name, and I was named after my dad. She made everyone at ease. Even the day the "bomb" (diagnosis) was dropped, she was there to hold hands, answer questions-even if she didn't know she would find out. I even caught a tear in her eye. I know she and my dad had lots of special talks, lots that gave him peace about the future. I don't believe another nurse ever had these chats. He was everyone's favorite patient because he was easy and not needy. But he only had one favorite nurse.
Even though we lost my dad, the care that he received has touched our hearts. I have had this form since our tearful departure from Mercy Springfield, leaving that place that means lots of unknowns but I knew in my heart there would never be another Nurse Rhonda. I am so grateful for her.
