I would like to say a special "Thank You" to the most dedicated and outstanding nurse that I have ever had the privilege to meet at St. Elizabeth or any other medical facility. I have been my husband's caretaker for many years and in 2016, he had an unscheduled surgery to remove a large cancerous tumor and his entire large colon. I had never heard the word ileostomy before and was totally unprepared to deal with one on a personal basis. We met this nurse the day after surgery and the only thing I remember is her calm presence and her saying, "We will get through this together." Little did I know that day how important she would become in our lives going forward. She patiently guided us trying numerous appliances and techniques. My husband had 24 weeks of chemotherapy at St. Elizabeth and Rhonda was available throughout the entire session. She never made me feel like the failure that I was certain I was in living with this new challenge. Dealing with never-ending leaks, ruptures, and sores, she has kept herself available and involved with our many ups and downs. Without her continual caring and involvement throughout the past 20 months, my husband would be living in a care facility because I would not have been able to endure this journey without her support and dedication. She is truly a very special person and a very special nurse!
