When my sister-in-law was having an episode of deep despair, anxiety and frustration about her condition and how weak and dependent she had become; Rhonda was her nurse. She was preparing her medicines quietly, approached the bedside and asked to take her hand. She proceeded to say that she was sorry that she didn't have a medicine or a magic touch to make her feel less frightened and sad. But, "If you'd like I'll be happy and honored to pray with you to the Lord, which I believe does have that power". She kept holding her hand until after she shook her head that it was ok. Rhonda then offered a fervent thank you for the goodness of the Lord that brought us all "to this place, together, and a short, humble request for his solace and guidance" in my sister in law's recovery.

Her spontaneous spiritual assessment and intervention was a blessing in and of itself. In the heart of this old retired nurse, a joy-filled praise for this smart and truly caring young nurse who really "walks the walk", ascended to the Lord with my prayers. She was truly a joy and a comfort.
