Rhonda was caring for a teenage patient who was hospitalized for traumatic facial wounds and had his jaw wired shut. His mom was a single parent and was having a difficult time raising him alone. Mom didn't have money for a water pick to be used to clean his teeth while his jaw was wired and was having a really rough time with everything. Rhonda went at the end of her shift and bought a water pick and all that was needed to keep his teeth and mouth clean and left it at the security desk so no one would know who purchased this for them. The patient and mother were extremely grateful for this generous gift. Rhonda spent lots of time talking through life's trials with mom and really just being a friend mom needed at the moment.
