Ric is a VA home based primary care nurse and case manager. His primary role is to provide home visits to veterans that are disabled or unable to get to primary care in the clinic. For the past 2 months, Ric has carried a heavy caseload and not only managed it without missing a step, but has gone above and beyond to make sure all the veterans on his panel are receiving the care they deserve.

He has made sure one of his cancer patients is getting all of his needs met and at the same time, he is attending dental visits with another veteran, which is not in his job duties. He has had to travel over an hour one way every week, for the past several weeks, to draw labs in the home of a veteran that has had major illness.

His care and compassion for the veterans shines through and his panel of patients receive care that is above and beyond. He provides much more than single acts of kindness, as he is consistently working outside of his job description to make sure that his veterans have food, healthcare, and all their needs met. He is an amazing nurse and his team and the veterans he cares for are much better because of his positive attitude, caring and compassionate heart, and his incredible devotion to nursing.
