Rich displayed integrity, commitment, advocacy, and excellence today helping a Veteran obtain an injection he had missed due to an Urgent Care Clinic visit. The Veteran lives a great distance from his clinic and would have been unable to reschedule this important weekly medication. Rich went above and beyond, even calling on his own time to make sure we could help this Veteran. Initially, it was unclear if the Urgent Care Clinic could provide the requested service. Again, Rich contacted Urgent Care Clinic staff, spoke with the Veteran and explain the situation, supported the nursing staff by listening to their point of view regarding the situation and ultimately made sure the Veteran was served and his needs met. The Veteran showed great appreciation for our attention to his needs. Through this interaction, I am confident saying we restored trust in the VA for this Veteran. It means a great deal to have a lead in this department who cares so much about providing excellent care to Veterans and who supports and advocates for his team. Rich took time, caring, and the entire "ICARE" principles to the next level. It is inspiring to work and learn from a nurse like Rich!
