From the moment my husband was admitted to Glens Falls Hospital from the Emergency Center, Rich Dieffenbach, RN, and a tech assistant took charge of the transition. They both made sure we were comfortable, had all of our personal belongings, and secured us sandwiches and beverages for a 1230 am "picnic." We enjoyed our meal together. I was given a pillow, blanket, and covering for the reclining chair where I would be for many hours. We felt like royalty. Then the floods came. My husband had multiple explosions of diarrhea for most of the early hours of the morning. At this point, my husband was considered infectious requiring all who worked with him to put on the yellow gown, etc. Nurse Rich had to gown up every time he assisted my husband, which was often. Nurse Rich approached my husband each time with an upbeat attitude, heartfelt care and compassion, getting the task at hand done with experience and professionalism. He repeatedly maintained his kind and caring behavior throughout the early morning hours under extreme circumstances. We were grateful to have such a wonderful nurse as Rich.
